Dirty coral sand releases more calcium and buffers

the dirty substrate actually releases more calcium carbonate magnesium and so forth and clean because if your substrates dirty which are not encouraging then the bacteria that you'll form in the substrate dodol or sediment and detritus that's building up in the substrate will turn more anaerobic and aerobic which means that at the bottom of the sand you're going to form anoxic zones and anaerobic zones which are going to be producing acids and then those acids are going to be releasing calcium carbonate and various stuff into the water which means that the sand is actually getting broken down so if you have really clean sand and you're not full of all the crap then you'll find that the the sand will not be releasing calcium and carbonate and so forth so the importance of a dosing pump is really important on a healthy clean aquarium now if your aquarium is in worse shape you might find that your calcium level and all that will maintain better and that's not a good thing we actually want to have a good healthy clean aquarium where we don't have large stinks of stay anoxic bacteria and so therefore in a healthy tank you may find that you're going through more of this stuff and you might find that your sand doesn't break down as easy so our aim is to have a good healthy clean environment and what we don't want to have is really dirty sand and in the healthy clean environment you will find that your additions of calcium seem to be higher and in a not well maintained aquarium you'll find that first you don't need to add as much of this stuff and that's not a good thing that's because your sand is breaking down and you're producing an Arctic states which have many side effects anyway if you've got any comments on this particular subject or experience with them the amount of calcium and so forth that you're needing to dose in your aquarium from note on the bottom of this aquarium of this video but the aim is to have a good healthy tank look good healthy clean sand even if that means you need to add a little bit more calcium and so forth to supplement your aquarium
